KOHALA COAST — Fairmont Orchid is teaming up with Project Hawaii, Inc. to provide 350 homeless keiki on Hawaii Island gifts, hygiene kits and a festive meal to celebrate the holiday season.
From Dec. 7 through 25, residents and visitors can decorate Fairmont Orchid’s Tree of Hope with ornaments purchased in denominations of $10, $25 or $50 to benefit Project Hawaii’s holiday program.
Fairmont Orchid will also donate $10 to Project Hawaii from every night booked for the special Trees of Hope package now through Jan. 31.
“The spirit of the holidays is captured in the wonder of children, but for keiki born into the cycle of extreme poverty it’s easy to lose that wonder,” Magin Patrick said, director of Project Hawaii. “By offering a child a gift chosen especially for them, along with a turkey feast, games and a party, you’re giving them hope. We’re thankful that Fairmont Orchid is helping in that effort.”
Local businesses will decorate trees to be displayed in the Fairmont Orchid lobby and each will offer $500 to Project Hawaii in exchange. These businesses include Luxury Homes Hawaii Collection, KapohoKine Adventures, Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, Sunshine Helicopters and Ainahua Florals.
“It’s our kuleana (responsibility) to give back to the community,” Fairmont Orchid’s General Manager Kelley Cosgrove said. “We’re excited to offer our guests a meaningful way to bring joy to children in need on Hawaii Island during this season of giving.”
