Rebecca Pau
Rebecca Quihano Pau, 89, of Hawaiian Paradise Park, died Oct. 17, 2018, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Kapapala but raised in Kalapana, she was a Hawaiian music entertainer known as Aunty Becky the Songbird of Puna, a full time Bible teacher and member of the Paradise Park Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Friends may call 9-10:30 a.m. Dec. 1 at the Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10:30 a.m. Memorial service. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. Dec. 3 at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 for a graveside urn committal service. Casual attire.

Satoru Sugawara
Satoru “Sugar” Sugawara, 91, of Honokaa, died Nov. 13, 2018, at a care home. Born Sept. 15, 1927, in Paauilo, he was retired from the former Hamakua Sugar Company and member of Paauilo Hongwanji Mission, ILWU Pensioners Club and an ILWU Delegate.
Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 1 at Paauilo Hongwanji Mission for a 10:30 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
He is survived by brothers, Tadashi (Fusako) Sugawara and Noboru Sugawara of Los Angeles; sister, Sueko (Harry) Matsumoto of Paauilo; numerous nieces and nephews.

Harry Morita
Harry Yukio Morita, 95, of Waimea, died Nov. 2, 2018, at home. Born July 18, 1923, in Honolulu, he was owner of H Morita Farm, U.S. Army veteran and member of Kamuela Hongwanji Kyodan, Kamuela Civic Club and various farmers’ organizations.

Sonja Shigemi Allen, 71, of Hakalau, died Nov. 23, 2018, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born May 7, 1947, in Honolulu, she was retired.

Tsuyuko Shimizu, 89 of Hilo, died Oct. 10, 2018, at home. Born on Oct. 13, 1929, in Hilo. Tsuyuko was a bookkeeper and involved in Taishoji Soto Mission, Anela Street Kumiai, Hilo Daijingu, Fukushima Kenjin Kai, Yamanashi Kenjin Kai.

Jacinto Ignacio, Jr.
Mr. Jacinto “Joe” Ignacio, Jr., 60, of Waimea died Nov. 14, 2018, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Honokaa on April 8, 1958, he was a machine operator for Kamuela Vacuum Cooling Plant. He was a driver for Kamuela Trucking Company.
Visitation will be held at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 1 at St. James Episcopal Church in Waimea. Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. with burial to follow. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

Jean Kelekolio Rapoza, of Keaau, died Nov. 12, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. Born on Sept. 1, 1932, in Honaunau, she retired from Hilo Quality Cleaners and she also was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Glenn Franklin Wagner, 62, of Kailua-Kona, formerly of Peoria, Ill., died Nov. 25, 2018, at Queen’s Medical Center.

Mrs. Ethel Chiharu Aoki, 90, of Captain Cook, died Nov. 24, 2018, at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Pepeekeo on Feb. 15, 1928, she was a registered nurse. She was a member of Akitsu Gumi, Kona Hongwanji Kyodan and Buddhist Women’s Association, Kona Hongwanji Jiho, Kona Hongwanji Danna Program, Hawaii Government Employee Association and Kumamoto Kenjin Kai.
Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 2 at Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Kealakekua. Memorial service is at noon. The family requests casual attire and no flowers.

Sanae Matsumura
Sanae Matsumura, 77, of Kealakekua, died Nov. 7, 2018, at her residence. Born in Honaunau, on May 18, 1941, she was a former cashier at KTA and Sure Save Supermarkets. She was a secretary at Kona Rancho Produce, a member of the Kona Senior Karaoke Club, Konawaena High School Class of 1959 alumni and a member of the Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.
Private services will be held for immediate family. A celebration of life will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 12 at Yano Hall in Captain Cook. Aloha attire is requested. Sadao Oshiro, 81, of Hilo, died Aug. 9, 2018, at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. He was born in Mountain View and was a retired journeyman welder with the former H T &T Company and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Teresa “Teri” Lani Sachiko Solomon, 63, of Captain Cook, died Oct. 14, 2018, at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu on May 11, 1955, she was an assistant manager for Par Pacific Hawaii (Hele) Service Stations. She was a member of the Waiaha Kumiai.

Leslie D. Correia, 73, of Kalopa, died Nov. 24, 2018, at home. Born in Laupahoehoe, he was a retired police officer for the Hawaii County Police Department and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was also a watermelon farmer and rancher and former owner of Alfalfa Hay and Cubes Feed Store in Paauilo.

William (Devine) Hulyk, 58, of Pahoa, died Nov. 15, 2018, at his home. Born on Oct. 2, 1960, in Detroit, he was a caregiver and musician, member of the Pahoa Community and a mentor to many upcoming musicians.
A Celebration of life will be at noon Dec. 2 at the Lava Shack in Pahoa, featuring a number of bands including Girls Nite Out Band.
