Penny Rogers

Penny Louise Marto Rogers, 81, of Kailua-Kona, died Oct. 14, 2018, at Kaiser Hospital on Oahu after a long illness. She was a stay-at-home mom, raising her family, active in PTA and scouting — obtaining the silver beaver award, scouting’s highest honor for volunteers — in Simi Valley, Calif., between 1963-77. She was founder and co-owner of Cerami Craft in Kailua-Kona.

A private ceremony will be held at a later date.

She is survived by her husband, Richard (Capt. Dick) Rogers; sons, Richard and Capt. Jeff of Kona, Randy of Seattle; brother, Jim Maize of Nashville; sister, Paulette Miller of Mexico; two granddaughters; many nieces and nephews.

Walter Baoy

Walter Baoy, 77, of Honaunau, died Nov. 2, 2018, at his residence. Born in Kohala on April 9, 1941, he was a mason for a construction company and a self-employed backhoe operator.

Private services will be held.

He is survived by his wife, Estella Baoy of Honaunau; brothers, Raymond (Sarah) Baoy and Joseph (Kathleen) Baoy of Honolulu; sister, Beatrice Baoy of Honaunau; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Brad Kahele

Brad “Da Hawaiian” Keanuenueonalani Kahele, 38, of Hilo, died Oct. 6, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. Born on May 31, 1980, in Hilo, he was a self-employed mason and carpenter and a member of Living Waters Assembly of God in Hilo.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Nov. 17 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo; Celebration of life at 7 p.m. Casual attire is requested.

He is survived by wife, Clarice Kahele of Hilo; sons, Sione (Yorang) Andrew of Hilo, Zachary (Josie) Andrew-Yamamoto of Hilo, Braden Kahele of Hilo and Ioane Kahele of Hilo; daughters, Chazlyn (Beau) Yamamoto of Hilo and Talitha Yamamoto of Hilo; parents, William “Bill” and Ruth Kahele of Hilo; parents-in-law; grandparents, Sarah Kahele of Hilo and Edith L. Kanakaole of Hilo; brothers, William Kahele of Hilo, Derwin (Leonell) Kahele of Hawaiian Beaches and Nicalos Kahele of Hilo; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Clifford Miyamoto

Clifford Mitsuo Miyamoto, 62, of Hilo died Oct. 10, 2018, at Hawaii Care Choices. Born in Hilo, he was a retired air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration, member of the Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers and no koden (monetary gifts).

He is survived by mother, Umeno Miyamoto of Hilo; brother, Brent Miyamoto of Honolulu; sister, Elaine Miyamoto of Hilo; an aunt and uncle and numerous cousins.

Laura Muneno

Laura Satsuki Muneno, 93, of Honomu, died Nov. 5, 2018, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born May 1, 1925, in Pepeekeo, she was the previous owner of Jans Store in Honomu and a retired district manager for Aflac Insurance Co., volunteer for RSVP and member of Hilo Coast United Church of Christ.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Nov. 20 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by daughter, Judy (Lyman) Jakahi of Hilo; sons, Arnold (Roylin) Muneno of Honolulu, Owen (Susan) Muneno of Hilo, Gary (Frances) Muneno of Honolulu; brother, Harry Endo of Honolulu; sister, Irene (Bob) Umphress of Riverside, Calif.; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
