This is the 27th traffic fatality this year on Big Island public roads compared with 28 at this time last year.
I see these nitwits that think they can walk in the middle of the road ,late at night ,quite frequently . I figure they are homeless druggies or people with mental issues . I have always figured that it was just a matter of time before one of them is mown down .
The nitwit you are referring to is my son. I pray you never have to identify your child’s dead body. Contact the officer in charge to get your facts straight.
Actually, pedestrians frequently walk with their backs towards oncoming traffic. Why anyone would do that is beyond me. Are pedestrians too stupid to realize they would have a better chance of survival if they could see a car coming long before it hits and take evasive action?
I lay a lot of blame on police. Why not educate pedestrians?
He was crossing not with his back towards oncoming traffic. Contact officer for correct details.
Today’s road traffic environment, urban or rural, laws and safe practices seem to be ignored.
Traffic engineering and education needs a makeover.
Blame the police?
Maybe a parent should educate pedestrians?
