KAILUA-KONA — Advisory-level surf is forecast through early Saturday for south-facing shores of Hawaii Island.
Honolulu-based National Weather Service forecasters said Friday that a south swell will continue to fuel 6- to 10-foot waves along the south-facing shores of the Big Island’s northern, southern, eastern and Kona coasts through 6 a.m. Saturday.
Wave heights could remain elevated into the weekend, however, the surf is expected to dissipate Sunday through the first half of next week.
A larger north-northwest swell is forecast to move in late Saturday, and may build surf near advisory levels for north-facing shores Saturday night through Sunday as it peaks, forecasters said.
“This larger source may boost surf to near-advisory levels for north facing shores as it peaks Saturday night through Sunday,” forecasters said.
