Elizabeth Armitage

Elizabeth C. Hodgson “Betty” Armitage, 94 of Ahualoa, died Oct. 10, 2018, at home. She was born on July 18, 1924, in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Per Betty’s request, there will be no memorial service, and the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent in Betty’s name to Hawaii Humane Society in Kamuela.

Elizabeth is survived by daughters, Denise (Eric) Johnsen of Ahualoa and Danielle Chapman of Rapid City, South Dakota; sister-in-law, Marilyn Hodgson; three grandchildren, a great-grandchild; nephews and a cousin.

Joseph Bussing

Joseph “Joe” Michael Bussing, 66, of Kailua-Kona, died Oct. 12, 2018, at Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born Aug. 22, 1952, in Johnson County, Indiana, he was a fisherman, scuba diver and a former mechanical engineer for Shell Oil Company.

Private service were held.

He is survived by wife Nina Jandakhot; son, Matthew Bussing, both of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Lorinda Davison, Lonnette Sellers both of Texas, Lori (Matt) Kelley; brother, Gene (Christine) Bradbury all of Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews.

Eleanor Hood

Eleanor “Ellie” Rodrigues Hood, 90, of Hilo, died Oct. 6, 2018, in Hilo. Born on April 22, 1928, in Hilo, she was a retired service representative 4 from the former GTE Hawaiian Telephone Company, Hilo Phone Mart at Kaiko’o Mall and member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Ahualani Kumiai and Kamana Senior Citizens.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Oct. 23 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial follows at Homelani Memorial Park Lehua Section. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by sister, Emmagene “Emmie” Sherman; nieces and nephews.

Robert Keaweopala

Robert “Papio” H. Keaweopala, 80, of Mountain View, died Oct. 8, 2018, at home. Born on Jan. 5, 1938, in Hilo, he worked for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company.

Private services were held.

He is survived by companion, Evangeline Macaysa of Mountain View; sister, Maude Amaral of Hilo; numerous nieces and nephews.

Chizuko Morgado

Chizuko “Chibi” Beverly Yamaguchi Morgado, 90, of Hilo, formerly of Honolulu, died on Sept. 15, 2018, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Osaka, Japan, she was a homemaker and a member of Soka Gakai International.

A visitation will take place from 9-11 a.m. Oct. 23 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary in Kaneohe; a Celebration of Life will take place at 11 a.m. Urn burial to follow at 1 p.m. at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.

She is survived by two sons, James Morgado of Hilo, and Arnold (Karen) Morgado of Pearl City; daughter, Leilani (Duncan) Seto of Hilo; sisters, Akiko Noshita of Amagasaki, Japan, Yoshiko Wakita of Amagasaki, Japan, and Megumi Yamaguchi of Amagasaki, Japan; brother, Kazushi Yamaguchi of Amagasaki, Japan; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Blanca Silva

Blanca Andrada Silva, 66, of Hilo, died on Oct. 12, 2018, at home. Born on Oct. 11, 1952, in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan, Philippines, she was a factory supervisor for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call at Dodo Mortuary Chapel on Oct. 27 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Visitation from 9-10 a.m.; Prayer service at 10 a.m. Casual attire is requested; flowers are welcomed. Burial at Homelani Memorial Park (Ilima Section).

She is survived by partner, Walter Basque of Hilo; daughter, Brenda Lorraine (Jonathan) Ragasa of Hilo; son, Brian (Mindy) Silva of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandson, Zedrick-Kyle Silva Oda of Hilo; parents, Hilario and Natividad Andrada of Urdaneta City, Pangasinan, Philippines; sisters, Clarita (Romy) German, Magda (Danny) Castasus, Gloria (Antonio) Inocencio, Marina (Joshua) Agustin, Angelita (Roland) Macaraeg of Hilo and Angela (Glenn) Yasaki of Kona; brother, Amadito (Lenita) Andrada of Hilo.

Marjorie Ota

Marjorie N.K. Ota, 89, of Hilo, died Oct. 1, 2018, at home. Born in Honolulu, she was the retired proprietress for the former Ota’s Union Service and member of Muni Links Association and Garage Association.

Private services were held.

She is survived by sons, Jesse (Margit) Ota of Honolulu, Neal Ota of Hilo; daughters, Karen Ota of Hilo, Valerie Teves of Waipahu, Oahu, Claire (Michael) Muranaka of Honolulu; four grandsons, a great-grandson, numerous nieces and nephews.

Benjamin Guerrero

Benjamin John Guerrero, Jr., 66, of Hilo, died Sept. 11, 2018, at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retail store manager and a member of the United Community Church.

Private services were held.

He is survived by his wife, Karin Mohl-Guerrero of Hilo; son, Benjamin John Guerrero, III, of Honolulu; sisters, Della (Melvin) Yamanaka of Hilo, Gwen (Benny) Akamine of Hilo and Dorothy (Neal) Sumitani of Hilo; one grandson; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Elaine D. Quimby

Elaine D. Quimby, 90, of Ocean View, died Sept. 14, 2018, at the Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Keene, New Hampshire, she was a nutrition researcher and homeopathic healer.

Todd N. Neidhamer, 79, of Kapaau, Kohala, died Oct. 3, 2018 at the Kohala Hospital. He was a gardener and landscaper. No known survivors.

Lyla Aniban

Lyla N. Aniban, 57, of Pahoa, died Oct. 16, 2018 at her residence. Born in South Kona, she was an agent with the Transportation Security Administration at the Hilo International Airport and Kahului Airport and a cake decorator at KTA in Hilo.

A visitation will take place on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 8-10 a.m. at the Pahoa Sacred Heart Church; a Memorial Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Online condolences can be made at www.homelanimemorialpark.com.

She is survived by daughter, Amy (Scott) Barricklow; sons, Jason Richards and Bryan (Danielle) Richards; mother, Sarah Aniban; brothers, Wayne (Radhika) Aniban, Patrick (Ohia) Aniban, and William (Manu) Aniban; sisters, Paulette (Kaleo) Pacheco and Roxanne (Viktor) Lawcock; three grandchildren.
