Columnist needs
to go away
To Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne, I believe that one of the mainstays in a vibrant democracy is the part a strong newspaper plays in the dissemination of news to the citizens of that democracy. This is why I have for over 30 yeas subscribed to my local newspaper, the West Hawaii Today, in part to find out the local news, but primarily to support the newspaper financially so it may continue to serve its community.
However, week after week they publish your columns and week after week I must endure your usual charlatan dribble. How do you look yourself in the mirror in the morning and confront the author of this endless stream of hubristic pontification? Do us all a favor and start to write about newsworthy items rather than your usual stream of vitriolic dribble.

Recovered memory
has its skeptics
Judge Kavanaugh’s name and reputation have been ruined by an alleged recovered memory. Was it a real event, a nightmare, a dream, or a fantasy?
“The AMA considers recovered memories of childhood sexual abuse to be of uncertain authenticity, which should be subject to external verification,” according to the American Medical Association, Council on Scientific Affairs, and Memories of Childhood Sexual Abuse.
Take some time and Google “recovered memory” or recovered memory syndrome. They are very controversial in the psychiatric community. Funny, I have not seen any of our news media talk about this.
Yes, I have a lot of sympathy for sexually abused victims, I am one myself and wish I could repress that memory.

After reading David Wagner’s trumped up letter in your paper, I realized he needs to learn the meaning of what is pono.
The leader of our nation is about the best example of what not to do. His list of defects is so long that I don’t know where to begin. Suffice to say that his behavior is something to keep your children from viewing. If you want to have a positive story about Trump, then you can base it on fake news, as Mr. Wagner has done.
Really, Mr. Wagner, your skillful peek into Trump’s mentality should cause intelligent individuals to pause and wonder how much more damage the Trumpster will do before he is removed from power.
