Director’s lack of support saddening

To the state director of Concerned Women For America, this is a very impressive title, but tell me what are you concerned about. It certainly is not about the concerns of women’s rights.

You demean the victims to elevate the righteousness of a judge, who, so far, has not shown the integrity needed to be a judge in the highest court of the USA. It appears to me that you are just another Republican support group that will push the Trump agenda (that is if he even has one) regardless of the consequences we, the American people, will have to face.

The money base of this GOP finally has a president who will help them reset our government policies to their benefit, they know time is running out and, as you can see, are pushing these appointments without any concern for the working citizen struggling to get by.

I grew up with four sisters. We were taught to respect their privacy and their person. These lessons also pertained to all girls that we encountered. Believe me, it wasn’t easy being a boy, the girls had all the power. All they had to say was, “I’m going to tell daddy.”

Granted, not all teenage boys grew up with this kind of teaching, nonetheless it is never OK to assault sexually — or in any way assault or intimidate — a female.

To the author of the flimsy accusations, I cannot understand how you can dismiss an act of sexual harassment, being a woman yourself. Is supporting this Trump person that just recently was laughed off the stage by all the world leaders so important to you that you and your group will throw other women under the bus? I find this very sad.

Nominee showed his true colors

I found it interesting that when Rachel Mitchell, the female prosecutor hired by the Republicans, asked Brett Kavanaugh how many beers were too many for him, he couldn’t really say how many it takes to make him drunk, he avoided answering the question and gave a flippant answer, “Whatever the chart says.”

That wasn’t what she was asking, now was it? Then when she started to ask him about the July 1 notation on his calendar, concerning a gathering with four other guys, including the names of several boys that Dr. Ford identified as being present at the “incident,” including the word skies, as in brewskies, Lindsey Graham saw where that line of questioning was going.

Graham jumped in to interrupt and stop it by having his hissy fit. That ended the investigation on the part of the Republican senators, and Ms. Mitchell was summarily fired, even though that was not how Chuck Grassley had stated the proceedings would be conducted. After the hearing, The American Bar Association sent Grassley a letter recommending an FBI investigation before the confirmation vote. What a travesty this hearing was.

Brett Kavanaugh is an angry, paranoid, partisan drunk. I wouldn’t even trust him to be a fair judge at a dog show.

Congress shouldn’t be kangaroo court

I am a lifelong Democrat. I also believe the Roe v. Wade should be a law and not a decision of the Supreme Court. I believe that a woman should have a complete and inalienable right to what happens to and inside her body all the way to giving birth.

However, I think that the #MeToo movement has become a very dangerous and unconstitutional witch hunt. It stinks of McCarthyism. Suddenly, men are forced to prove that they are innocent and are not presumed innocent until proven guilty. That is wrong and sets really bad precedents for all kinds of accusations other than sexual abuses. This is doctrine that is being developed before our eyes.

Now, as for Kavanaugh: This man is being accused of crimes. His name is sullied and his reputation is in jeopardy. Even if he is guilty of the crimes of which he is accused, the Senate is not the place to try this man for his supposed crimes. This must be referred to a court of law and tried by a jury of his peers. There must be evidence presented. There must be counsel for and against the accused.

This entire process that is happening is a political circus. Granted, the Republicans played fast and loose with Garland’s appointment. They played dirty. And now the Democrats are playing dirty.

Congress is not a courtroom. They are not judges.

This must stop! Both the Democrats and the Republicans must stop this farce and act like statesmen and women.

Or we should fire the lot of them!
