Aloha folks, to those of you who can stop watching the weather reports on TV (all day) long enough to read the LOLs for today! Yep, cable TV and the weather channel — 24 hours a day of weather! We had something like that where I grew up. We called it a window!
One more from my farm-ranch state? Two farmers were boasting about the strongest wind they’d ever experienced. “Out here in California,” said one, “I’ve seen the fiercest wind in my life. You know those giant redwood trees? Well, the wind got so strong it bent them right over!” “Oh, that’s nothing,” said the Texas farmer. “Back on my farm we had a wind one day that blew over a hundred miles per hour! It was so bad that one of my hens had her back turned to the wind and she laid the same egg 6 times!
Yes, to put it mildly, our weather has caused a bit of stress for us all! Charlie Schulz had the right idea when he said, “I have a new philosophy. I’m only going to dread one day at a time!” My shrink doctor friend told me one day about a patient’s response when he tried to calm him by saying that most of the things you are anxious about never come to pass. The patient responded, “I know, Doc, but then I worry about why they didn’t!”
Constantly listening to the weather report on the radio as you go to work doesn’t help either! One morning the disc jockey asked, ”Hey, what makes you so sure you locked the garage and your front door?”
A kindergarten principal in China was fired after hiring a pole dancer to perform on the first day of school. But the kids loved it!
What is smoother than a Federer backhand? His $300 million deal with the Japanese clothing giant!
Another question for you smart readers: If good things come to those who wait, isn’t procrastination a virtue?
A former ER patient of mine saw me in the coffee shop and I motioned her to come chat for awhile. When asking about her life she responded, “Doc, I’m very happy these days! I’m never lonely because I have four men in my life: I get up in the morning with Charlie Horse. I spend the day with Arthur Itis. I dine with Will Power. I go to bed every night with Ben Gay!” Sounds like a fun life. What do you think? I shared one of my favorites with her: “When I was young it was always: “Look, but don’t touch!’” Now as we are older it’s, “Touch, but don’t look!”
And last bit of information for you readers: Wrinkles are hereditary. We get them from our kids!
Be well … Aloha, a hui hou.
