KAILUA-KONA — A man and woman were hospitalized after an apparent boating accident Friday morning at Honokohau.
The two were aboard a boat when it apparently struck something in the water at the harbor, according to the Hawaii Fire Department. The boat was already out of the water and on an trailer when medics arrived.
The man, a 59-year-old Kona resident said to be the boat’s owner, suffered a serious head injury while his passenger, a 33-year-old Kona woman, suffered leg and back injuries, according to Hawaii Police.
Fire rescue personnel transported the victims to Kona Community Hospital. The man and woman were later transported to The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. No additional information on their conditions was available.
If they were no-wake about 2-4 mph inside the harbor, hard to imagine what they could have hit hard enough to cause injuries.
So, what does the hull of the boat look like? Should tell what they hit.
We should ban all boating in the harbor!!
What kind of reporting is this ???
