Alexander Alcosiba

Alexander “Alex” Ishitaro Alcosiba, 82, of Mountain View, died Aug. 25, 2018, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born April 22, 1936, in Ookala, Hawaii, he was a retired park caretaker for the County Parks &Recreation Division and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Visitation will be held 4:30-5:30 p.m. Sept. 7, 2018, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo, with a memorial service at 5:30 p.m. Casual attire.

Survived by, wife, Angie Alcosiba; daughters, Andrea (Darren) Benevides, Cindy (Neal) Nakamoto and Donna (Chris) Lee; son, Tommy (Pilialoha Miprano) Alcosiba; brothers, James (Shirley) Alcosiba, George (Fanny) Alcosiba and Ronald (Miriam) Alcosiba; a brother-in-law; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Candace Tacub

Candace Tacub, 75, of Hilo, died Aug. 21, 2018, in Hilo. She was born in Hilo in May of 1943 and was a retired beautician at Jan’s Beauty Shop in Pahoa.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 9, 2018, at Soka Gakkai Intl., located at 695 Makalika St., Hilo. Family requests casual attire.

She is survived by her three daughters, Debra Vida, Susan Yamamoto, and Ernestina Tacub; two brothers, Terrance (Sheila) Machado and Larry Dudley; five sisters, Paula Rodrigues, Donna Dudley Dumas, Nancy Dudley Tatro, Carolyn Dudley Dumas, and Jane Dudley Bombard; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Edward Ku

Edward George Ku, 55, of Kamuela, died Aug. 3 at the North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Honokaa, he was an entertainer with Tihati Productions and a director service assistant with the Arc of Kona.

Friends may call 8-10 a.m. Sept. 8, 2018, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa; memorial mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at the church cemetery. Casual attire.

Survived by spouse, Thomas K. Yamamoto of Kamuela; mother, Velma Ku of Honokaa; brothers, James (Rocklyn) Ku of Kohala, Dale (Michelle) Ku of Kamuela; sister, Sharlene (Hana Camara) Ku of Honokaa; step-daughters, Jalene Yamamoto of Kamuela, Jazelle Yamamoto of Kamuela; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and step-grandchildren.
