Marjorie Spencer

Marjorie Naholokahiki “Aunty Marjie” Spencer, 93, of Kamuela, died on Aug. 4, 2018, at the Hale Hoola Hamakua. She was born in Kukuihaele and was a retired secretary with the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, member of Ahahui Kaahumanu, Waimea Seniors Club, Waimea Homesteaders Association, and Aunty Marjie’s Ukulele Group.

Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Aug. 28 at the Mana Christian Ohana Church, 67-1682 Lindsey Road, Kamuela, for an 11 a.m. to noon memorial service. Casual attire, no flowers.

She is survived by her sons, Sidney Spencer of Sacramento, Calif., and Edgar (Lita) Spencer of Kamuela; daughters, Priscilla Bertelmann of Kamuela and Carol (Al) David of Waikoloa; brothers, Donald Burke of Kamuela and Royden (Pat) Burke of California; sisters, Rowena Rachal of Louisiana and Pat (Keith) Miller of Wyoming.; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Colleen Pabre

Colleen Marie Pabre, 43, of Mountain View, died on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. She was born on July 14, 1974, in Phoenix, Arizona. She formerly worked for Paradise Auction.

Private services were held.

She is survived by daughter, Alanna (Christian Naipo) Pabre of Hilo and son, Dominick.

Miniver Kepa’a

Miniver “Mini” Leimomi Kepa’a, 56, of Hilo, died July 19, 2018, at the Hilo Medical Center. She was born in 1962 in Hilo and was a homemaker.

She is survived by her son, William “Wills” (Jessica Almazan) Rosehill of Hilo; daughter, Jenerl “Jen” (Tasha) Rosehill of Hilo; three brothers, Harry Kepa’a of New York, Reed Kepa’a of Hilo, and William Kahele of Oahu; two sisters, Noelani Kepa’a of Pepeekeo and Lehua “Penny” Luhiau of Hilo; three grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Meredith Palafox

Miss Meredith Mamuad Palafox, 29, of Kailua-Kona, died Aug. 10, 2018, at her residence. She was born in Kealakekua on May 9, 1989.

Viewing will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 3 at the Sadie Seymour Botanical Gardens, 76-6280 Kuakini Highway in Kailua-Kona. Funeral service will be from 11 a.m. to noon and a reception and continued viewing and all night vigil will follow at the family’s residence, 74-5145 Puuolokaa St. in the Queen Liliuokalani subdivision in Kailua-Kona. The family requests casual attire.

She is survived by her brothers, Richie Palafox, Junior Palafox of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Jackelyn (Brad) Thomas of Kihei, Maui, Mary-Rose Palafox, Marjorie Palafox and Marissa Palafox of Kailua-Kona; father, Generoso (Mary-Jean) Palafox, Sr., of Kailua-Kona; mother, Leonida Mamuad of Waimea; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

George Papaia

George Papaia, 85, of Kamuela, died July 23, 2018, at the North Hawaii Community Hospital. He was born in Maui, and was a retired gunnery sergeant with U.S. Marine Corps and a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Edna C. Papaia of Kamuela; stepdaughter, Kathy Barnes of Idaho; stepsons, Gordon (Kristine) Castro of Idaho, Steven (Eleanor) Castro of Honolulu, Richard (Cindy) Castro of Honolulu and Robert (Lisa) Castro of Honolulu; brother, Joseph Papaia of Kaneohe; 16 step-grandchildren, 27 step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Warren Koyama

Warren Kei Koyama, 60, of Volcano died Aug. 18, 2018, at Hawaii Care Choices. Born in Fort Defiance, Ariz., he was an automotive mechanic.

He is survived by daughter, Jequita Koyama of Hilo; mother, Vay Koyama of Oregon; brothers, Harol (Penny) Koyama of Oregon, William Koyama of California; sisters, Theresa Koyama of Oregon, Karen (Dale) McConnell of Colorado; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
