WAIMEA — Tutu’s House will host an open house from 1-5 p.m. this Saturday. Residents and visitors can enjoy light refreshments, mix and mingle with neighbors, explore resources and experience a wider definition of health and wellness.
At 1 p.m., a welcome and explanation of the activities will begin, followed by a “Harmony for Health” activity led by Richard Adoradio that invites participants to have fun in a “no experience necessary” group sing with popular feel-good songs and simple to follow harmonies.
Following a break from 2–2:30 p.m., a Talk Story Session Choices led by Josh Levinson at 2:30 p.m. will allow residents to discuss what community health means to them. Example of questions could include: What makes a community healthy? and What can Hawaii hospitals do to improve community health? Participation will provide input to a Community Health Needs Assessment — a statewide initiative to help Hawaii’s nonprofit hospitals understand community health.
During the same hour, Michelle Taira Medeiros will lead a session titled, “Your Epic Life Story.” She will focus on how the past is already written, but what story would you like to create about your future? Participants will begin to build their future epic life story by identifying resources they want for their journeys ahead, and learn about action stepping — a process that can be used to make the life story truly epic.
Following a half-hour break, the Talk Story Session Choices will be repeated from 4–5 p.m.
