KAILUA-KONA — Heavy showers in parts South Kohala and North Kona have prompted a flood advisory for the area.

This is great , the dry west side needs the rain and it will cause the vast burned area to start to regenerate quickly . A perfect time for volunteers to go in and plant dry forest trees
It’s too bad they don’t have seed banks of native plants that they can use whenever there’s a big fire like that, try establishing them early on when there’s less competition. Probably impractical, but I’ve even seen people suggested the out-of-the-box idea of incorporating native seeds in the helicopter dumps of water that they use to help put out the fire.
