The LGBTQI/Pride Writing Workshop with Eila Algood will be from 3-4:30 p.m. Saturday. Many LGBTQI folks have experienced discrimination, felt invisible or been silenced by friends, family and society. Studies show writing about stressful or emotional events can help one’s physical and psychological health. Writing thoughts and feelings can provide much needed healing, especially in a supportive group environment. In this workshop, receive paper, pens and prompts to stimulate ideas from which to write your unique story in your own special way. No writing experience is necessary.
Tutu’s House Writers’ Support Group gathers from 10 a.m.—noon every Tuesday. Interested persons are invited to join new writers to published authors to discuss many genres: fiction, non-fiction, essays and poetry. Parkinson’s and Neuroplasticity Wellness Support group will meet from 1—2:30 p.m. this Wednesday. People with PD and other neurological challenges, their care partners and others wanting to be part of a local Parkinson’s community support network are encouraged to attend these monthly gatherings. Discussions focus on personal experiences, community and PD related topics, including current research. Regular and new members are welcome to attend.
Chair Yoga with Kit Hill, a yoga enthusiast, is held from 9:30—10:30 a.m. every Friday. This class is for those who need a gentle and slow yoga in a chair practice. The movements are designed to stretch and strengthen the body without standing or lying on a mat. It may include some easy standing poses behind the chair.
Scrabble Meetup gathers from 1:30—4 p.m. every Friday with Annabel Spielman. Word lovers of every age and skill level are encouraged to play this classic game with relaxed rules; dictionary use permitted. It’s a great way to retain and expand vocabulary, spelling, memory and observation skills in a congenial atmosphere.
