Miguela Chung-Hoon

Miguela (Maggie) Chung-Hoon, 86, of Kailua-Kona, died June 26, 2018, in Kealakekua. Born March 20, 1932, Miguela worked at Ocean View Inn Restaurant and the former Kona Hilton in the later 1960s as a waitress. She worked for Hawaii Protective Association and Freeman Guards as an office secretary.

Her celebration of life service will be held at Old Kona Airport Events Pavilion Aug. 5. Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m., and service at 10:30 a.m. Online condolences may be posted on www.ballardfamilymortuaries.com.

She is survived by husband, Edmund Paul Chung-Hoon; daughters, Catherine (Clayton) Villanueva of Kailua-Kona; Joanne (late-Michael) Morimoto of Pearl City; sons, Michael (Gay) Regohos of Kailua-Kona; Steven (Georgia) Chung-Hoon of Kealakekua; stepchildren, Edmund D. K. Chung-Hoon of Honolulu; Cynthia (Hilary) Kanuha of Aiea; Danderine Clark of Kealakekua; one daughter-in-law; one sister-in-law Connie Gapol of Honolulu and numerous grandchildren, great- and great-great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Purtusa Benarao

Purtusa “Pat” Aguinaldo Benarao, 95, of Pahala, died July 16, 2018, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born on Sept. 22, 1922, in Honolulu, she was a homemaker and a volunteer for numerous charitable clubs and organizations.

Friends may call from 9-10 a.m. Aug. 6 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 10 a.m. funeral service. Casual attire; flowers and lei are welcomed; burial to at Alae Cemetery (new section).

She is survived by daughters, Linda (Terry) Roberts of Honolulu, Rose Camero of Pepeekeo, Barbara Bidal of Kurtistown, Julie (Howard) Fujioka of Hilo, Christine (Tony) Page of Ocean View and Juanita Valeros of Paradise Park; sons, Adriano (Ida) Aguinaldo of Pahala, Melvin Aguinaldo of Keaau, Francis (Lani) Aguinaldo and Joseph (Donna) Aguinaldo of Pahoa; one son-in-law; 34 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Gladys De Sa

Gladys Marie De Sa, 97, of Hilo, died July 21, 2018 at Hilo Medical Center. Born on Aug. 25, 1920, in Onomea, she was a homemaker and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call from 9-10 a.m. Aug. 6 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10:30 a.m. celebration of Mass. Casual attire; flowers and lei are welcomed; burial at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2

She is survived by sons, Anthony (Francelia) De Sa, Sr. and John R. (Arleen) De Sa of Hilo; daughters, Rosemary (Wendel) Gace and Margarite (Ellsworth) De Mattos of Hilo; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Irene Leslie

Mrs. Irene Leslie, 84, of Captain Cook, died June 28, 2018, at her residence. Born Dec. 8, 1933, in Kealakekua, she was a housekeeper at the former Kona Surf Resort. She worked as a room maid at the Manago Hotel and a gift shop attendant at the Napoopoo Coffee Mill and was member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held at 8 a.m. Aug. 11 at Kahikolu Congregational Church in Napoopoo. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

She is survived by her husband, Sonny Leslie of Captain Cook; daughters, Arlene (Henry) Kahananui and Valerie (Rudy) Kaeo of Captain Cook; Jadelyn (Clifford) Medeiros of Honaunau; hanai daughter, Marilyn Mitchell of Waimea; son, Randy Leslie of Captain Cook; hanai son, Stareyton Mitchell of First Lava Flow; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
