Pop-A-Lock expands to Big Island

KAILUA-KONA — Pop-A-Lock has expanded to the Big Island.

Pop-A-Lock Big Island is affiliated with Pop-A-Lock of Oahu, which has been helping people in Hawaii since 2009 and was recently voted “Hawaii’s Best Locksmith” by the 2018 Honolulu Star Advertiser’s People’s Choice Awards.

Pop-A-Lock Big Island mobile locksmith service specializes in lockouts, re-keying, lock repair and replacement locks for homes and offices. The Fit Xchange Kona plans open house for new boutique gym

KAILUA-KONA — The Studio at The Fit Xchange and The Fit Xchange Kona’s will hold grand opening/open house for its new Pilates and Barre Studio and Personal Training Boutique Gym.

From noon to 4 p.m. on July 28, the public is invited to take part in an afternoon of free classes, demonstrations, raffle giveaways, pupus, and a grand prize drawing. The gym is located in Sunset Plaza at 77-6425 Kuakini Highway #A4 and #B201, in Kailua-Kona.

KCTC announces First Harvest event

Kona Coffee and Tea Company will hold its annual First Harvest event on Aug. 25 at the company’s farm in Holualoa.

The free family friendly First Harvest runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is open to all ages. It also marks the company’s 20th year of farming coffee in Holualoa

After eight months of ripening from blossoms, the first coffee cherry is turning red and is ready for harvest. Kamaaina and visitors are encouraged to join this celebration of the start of the picking season and learn about the history and process of Kona coffee.

The morning will start at 8:30 a.m. with pure Kona coffee and pastries followed by picking instruction and sharing about the journey of the Kona coffee bean from farm to cup. Following this, everyone will be outfitted with picking gear and the picking will begin.

Prizes will be awarded to teams who have picked the greatest amount of coffee cherry. Additionally, awards for the youngest, oldest, and farthest traveled picker will be bestowed.

The day will close a light luncheon served in the main house of the farm.
