Mitchell Kamelamela

Mitchell David Keali’imahana Kamelamela, 25, of Keaau, died July 6, 2018, at home. He was born in Hilo and was a student at the University of Hawaii.

Friends may call 9-10 a.m. July 21 at the Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10 a.m. funeral service. Cremation to follow. Friends may also call from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 22 at Hawaiian Beaches Stables in Pahoa for a celebration of life gathering. Blue attire is requested.

He is survived by daughters, Ariel Kahee-Samson and Mercedes Kamelamele, both of Keaau; life partner, Kulia Beyer of Keaau; mother, Michele (Louise Torres) Rivera of Keaau; sisters, Misty Kamelamela, Maygan (Keven Kuhia) Kamelamela, Savanna (Keisha Kahee) Soares-Rivera and Melissa Soares, all of Keaau; maternal grandfather, Michael Rivera of Pahoa; maternal grandmothers, Julia Davis of Oahu and Lila Filoteo of Hilo; paternal grandmother, May Kamelamela of Hilo; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ian Takashiba

Ian Koji Takashiba, 40, of Hilo, formerly of Eleele, Kauai, died July 10, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Waimea, Kauai, he was an equity specialist with the Hawaii State Department of Education Civil Rights Compliance Office and field representative for U.S. Senator Brian Schatz.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. July 23 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 10:30 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Tania Takashiba of Hilo; children, Brody Koichi Takashiba and Mia Eiko Takashiba of Hilo; parents, Norman (deceased) and Alberta Takashiba of Kauai; sisters, Jill (Craig) Ueda of Japan, Emi (Jason) Okamura of Honolulu; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
