HONOLULU — Two homes have been destroyed and four others damaged following a brush fire on Maui believed to have been caused by fireworks.
The Maui Fire Department says a witness heard children playing with fireworks in Kihei just before the fire began Wednesday. The fire department says remnants of fireworks were found in the area.
Hawaii News Now reports a preliminary damage assessment of $1 million that could still change.
The fire department says a firefighter was taken to a hospital for treatment after sustaining an injury.
