KAILUA-KONA — Hawaii Island police arrested 23 motorists for suspected drunken driving between June 25 and Sunday. Two of those drivers were involved in a traffic crash and two were younger than age 21.
KAILUA-KONA — Hawaii Island police arrested 23 motorists for suspected drunken driving between June 25 and Sunday. Two of those drivers were involved in a traffic crash and two were younger than age 21.
Kona officers arrested seven motorists while South Hilo and Puna officers arrested six in each district, according to data released Monday by the Hawaii Police Department. Officers in South Kohala arrested three drivers while officers in Ka‘u arrested one driver, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
So far this year, there have been 584 DUI arrests compared with 573 during the same period last year, according to police.
Through Monday, there have been 15 deaths on Hawaii Island public roads compared with 20 fatalities at this time last year.
