KAILUA-KONA — A tip from the public about a suspicious man in a vehicle parked near Ocean View resulted in the 39-year-old’s rest and the recovery of a firearm and drugs.
The Hawaii Police Department said officers responded at 7:21 a.m. Wednesday report of a man parked in a suspicious manner in the vicinity of Aloha Boulevard. Police subsequently located the vehicle with a man passed out in the driver seat of the vehicle holding a pistol.
Police said officers were able to apprehend the man without incident, and the pistol was recovered. Following a search of the vehicle, police reportedly found methamphetamine and related drug paraphernalia.
The man, identified as Nikolaus Jason Slavik of Kailua-Kona who has no permanent address, was charged with an array of offenses, including having a firearm on the highway, two firearm registration violations, fraudulent license plates, possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
He is being held in lieu of $8,525 bail pending a court appearance Thursday morning.
