KAILUA-KONA — No tsunami was triggered by a magnitude-5.6 earthquake that struck Tuesday morning near the summit of Kilauea Volcano.
The temblor, reported at 4:32 a.m., was located about 3.7 miles west-southwest of Volcano Village, according to the U.S. Geological Survey and Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. It had a registered depth of 0.9 miles.
Based on all available data, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said no tsunami is expected although some areas might have experienced strong shaking.
