KAILUA-KONA — Hawaii Island police arrested 16 motorists for suspected drunken driving between May 14 and Sunday. Two of those drivers were involved in a traffic crash and one was younger than age 21.
KAILUA-KONA — Hawaii Island police arrested 16 motorists for suspected drunken driving between May 14 and Sunday. Two of those drivers were involved in a traffic crash and one was younger than age 21.
Kona officers arrested seven motorists while South Hilo officers arrested six and Puna officers two. One driver was arrested in South Kohala, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
So far this year, there have been 449 DUI arrests compared with 470 during the same period last year, according to police.
Through Monday, there have been 10 deaths on Hawaii Island public roads compared with 15 fatalities at this time last year.
