KAILUA-KONA — A Captain Cook man indicted on sexual assault and kidnapping charges last month turned himself in Monday.
The indictment against Kelson K.M. Akeo was filed April 10. He has been charged with continuous sexual assault of a minor under the age of 14, three counts of kidnapping, two counts of first-degree sexual assault and first-degree attempted sexual assault.
Charges stem from incidents that occurred last year. From April to July, the indictment states Akeo engaged in three or more acts of sexual penetration or sexual contact with a boy under the age of 14. He is also accused of kidnapping.
From June 15-17, the indictment indicates that Akeo intentionally restrained a boy under the age of 14 and engaged in sexual penetration.
Hawaii Police Maj. Robert Wagner said the alleged assaults occurred in South Kohala and Kona. The kidnapping charges are a result of the victim not being allowed to leave on three occasions when the sexual assaults occurred.
Akeo was booked into jail on bail of $100,000.
