HCFCU appoints new leaders

HILO — Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union announced the appointment of Hawaii Island business owner and community supporter David De Luz Jr. as its new board member.

De Luz, Jr. was born in Hilo and raised in Paauilo and in Hilo, is the vice president of David S. De Luz, Sr. Enterprises, which operate Big Island Toyota, Inc., De Luz Chevrolet, Kukaiau Ranch and Hawaii Beef Producers.

He has been serving on HCFCU’s Supervisory Committee since 2014 and will fulfill the remaining term vacated by Marilyn Koschella, who stepped down to move to Nevada.

HCFCU also announced Rose Kagawa as branch manager for its Kaloko branch. She will be responsible for branch administration and operations, loans, personnel functions, and community and public relations.

Kagawa graduated from Konawaena High School, and received a bachelor of business Administration degree from University of Hawaii at Hilo. She was hired in 2014.

SBA winner from Honolulu; Jackie Rey’s owners represent County of Hawaii

The Hawaii District Office announced the selection of Reginald “Regi” Perry, managing member of Barbers Point Aviation Services, LLC, as the 2018 Small Business Person of the Year for the State of Hawaii.

Perry was chosen by a panel of judges from the local business community from a field of highly qualified small business owners in the SBA’s annual competition. He will go to Washington, D.C. to participate in the National Small Business Week ceremonies April 29-30 to represent Hawaii.

Perry started Barbers Point Aviation Services in 2011 as a complement to the flight school he founded a year earlier at Kalaeloa Airport in Kapolei providing receiving and ground handling of all transport category aircraft.

County title winners vied for the spot. County of Hawaii nominees were Paul Streiter and Angela Rey of Jackie Rey’s Ohana Grill, with locations in Kailua-Kona and in Hilo.
