KAILUA-KONA — A flash flood watch is in effect for all Hawaiian Islands through Sunday.
An upper-level disturbance will approach the state from the northwest on Saturday and drag a band of deep, layered moisture over the islands. These high moisture levels, combined with an unstable atmosphere, could drive moderate to heavy rains over all of the islands, National Weather Service forecasters in Honolulu said Friday afternoon.
The showers and thunderstorms are expected to increase and intensify Saturday and continue through Sunday, forecasters said.
Improving conditions with a drying trend will be possible late Sunday through early next week for western end of the island chain, however, clouds and showers will continue into next week for windward and mauka areas of the Big Island and Maui County.
