Clara Hatsuko Nakata, 90, of Hilo died March 1, 2018, at a private care home in Keaau. Born in Hilo, she was a retired postal clerk at the Volcano Post Office and owner of the former Hongo Store in Volcano.

She is survived by son, David (Elizabeth) Nakata of Hilo; daughters, Irene (Koji) Okamura of Hilo, Judy (Scott) Vierra of Waimea; brothers, Hiroshi (Shizuho) Ota of Hilo, Satoshi Ota of Hilo, Charles (Gladys) Ota of Hilo, sisters, Yukie Kunihiro of Hilo, Yoshino (Robert) Ouye of Hilo, Dorothy (James) Burton of Hawaiian Beaches, Lorraine (Gordon) Hashimoto of Hilo; four sisters-in-law, Mayumi Ota of Hilo, Laura Ota of Hilo, Ellen Okimura of Hilo, Mitsuko Nakata of Hilo; family of the late Yoshie Pacheco; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and an aunt.

Atoru Shikuma
Atoru Shikuma, 98, of Hilo died March 7, 2018, at the Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Honohina, he was the owner of the former Shikuma Sign Shop and a member of the Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission.

He is survived by sons, Carl (Karen) Shikuma of Torrance, Calif.; Gene Shikuma of Oregon; daughters, Patricia (Robert) Rabago of Honolulu, Aileen (Glenn) Tokihiro of Hilo; one daughter-in-law; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Ronald Caravalho
Mr. Ronald “K K” Peter Caravalho, 79, of Kohala, died March 14, 2018, at his residence. Born Dec. 19, 1938, in North Kohala, he was a retired mason for Ono Construction Company.

He is survived by his brothers, John (Barbara) Caravalho, Jr. of Holualoa, Henry (Lei) Caravalho and Ernest Caravalho of Waimea, Christino (Leona) Caravalho of Hilo; sisters, Irene Perez of Kailua-Kona, Gladys Silva of Wyoming, Dora (Daniel) Perreira of Waimea, Cheryl Lewi and Bernie Lewi of Kailua-Kona; three aunts, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
