Margie Grimes
Margie Southard Grimes, 81, of Kailua Kona, died March 11, 2018 at her residence. Born Nov. 30, 1936 in Elida, New Mexico, she was a retired educator for San Diego Unified School District and a former activities sales representative for Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays.
A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 8 at Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Hawaii Humane Society.
She is survived by husband, Jim Grimes of Kailua Kona; hanai daughter, Kaying Xiong of California; sister, Faye Boother of Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Laverne Manoa
Laverne Cynthia Manoa, 70, of Kurtistown, died March 8, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 26, 1947, in Ookala, Hawaii, she was a beautician and housewife.

Survived by husband, Albert Manoa of Kurtistown; daughter, Iona Manoa of Kurtistown; son, Keone Manoa of Kurtistown; mother, Rose Victorine of Kaumana; two sisters and four brothers.

Richard Tighe III
Richard Clarmont Tighe III, 74, of Hilo, died Feb. 19, 2018, in Hilo. He was born Nov. 27, 1943 in Honolulu, Oahu.
Celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
Survived by his daughter Thea Mari Tighe; brother Kellett Jay Tighe; sisters Darril Ann Tighe and Shannon Dorsey; two grandchildren; and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.
His younger sister, Shannon, sold her house, sold her business and went through many blessings and struggles to make sure he came back home to his beloved Hilo, where she has retired.

Alexander Schuler
Alexander Kaulike Hare Schuler, 34, of Hilo died Mar. 10 at his parent’s residence. Born in Hilo, he was a logger, wood worker, furniture maker and scuba diver.

Raymond Yamamoto
Raymond Jay Wataru Yamamoto, 50, of Pahoa, and formerly of Wailuku, Maui, died Feb. 26, at the Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu and was a sales and delivery driver with Love’s Bakery.

Dinah Lee Yousey
Dinah Lee Yousey, 73 of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, died March 4, 2018. Born in Norwich, New York on May 22, 1944, she worked as a legal secretary.
She is survived by husband Ronald and brother Ronald (Rose) Balcom of Lexington, Kentucky.

John Tyler
John W. Tyler, 74, of Volcano, died Jan. 23 at the Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. He was born in Boone, Iowa and retired from the National Park Service, U.S. Department of Interior after 36 years, worked in numerous parks across the US and Japan including Pu’uhonua o Honaunau National Park here in Hawaii, worked as a park ranger, superintendent, instructor, and assistant director of training in the course of his career.
He and his wife, of 50 years, Karen, retired to Volcano 12 years ago. He was active in the Rotary Club of Volcano, a board member for Hawaii Pacific Parks Assoc., and a volunteer at Hospice of Hilo.
No services are planned. Contributions in his name can be sent to Hospice of Hilo.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Tyler of Volcano; sister, Margaret Welder of Madrid, Iowa; a niece and a nephew.

Yeichi Yamamoto
Yeichi Yamamoto, 94 of Keaau died Feb. 28 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Ola’a on the Big Island, he served as a Military Policeman in the U.S. Army’s 440th AAC Artillery Battalion during World War II and was a retired carpenter of Hick’s Homes. A member of Puna Hongwanji, he was also an avid golfer, and a long-time fan of the San Francisco Giants, 49ers, and UH Athletics. He loved his trips to Las Vegas.

He survived by his wife Misako of Keaau; daughters Jocelyn (Michael) Kasamoto of Honolulu, Cyd (Paul) Arrington of Kauai, Gail (Scot) Rosehill of Kurtistown; son Miles (Margo Fulton) Yamamoto of Oregon; son-in-law Steve Hurt of Hilo; sisters Anne (Ned) Matsuyama of Honolulu, and Yoshiko Hayes of Georgia; sister-in-law Alice (Nori) Watanabe of Honolulu, seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
