KAILUA-KONA — Rainy weather on the Big Island and snow on the summits are expected to continue until Thursday evening, according to the National Weather Service in Honolulu.
The NWS says, “a large swath of southerly winds,” are drawing up moisture, resulting in mid- to high level clouds that produce unstable, rainy weather.
In the past 24 hours, the NWS has recorded just under an inch of rain on the windward side of the island, and around half an inch of rain on the leeward side.
Moisture and winds are expected to shift southeast Thursday evening, stabilizing weather conditions on the west side. Showers may continue through Thursday night on the southeast side of the island.
