KAILUA-KONA — Hawaii Island police are investigating a reported threat of a shooting at Konawaena Elementary School.
After school hours on Tuesday, someone called into the Kealakekua-based school, “saying something to the effect that they wanted to shoot up the school,” said Hawaii Police Department Maj. Robert Wagner. There was no date or time given in the reported call.
No arrests have been made.
Konawaena Elementary School posted on its website Wednesday that there “is a police presence patrolling multiple areas of our campus today. We will keep you posted via a letter home today, the website and our mobile app.”
Konawaena Elementary School officials did not return a phone call seeking comment.
