HILO — The Hawaii Island Film Office will host an acting and film production workshop Saturday presented by actress and Hilo native Kristina Anapau.
The workshop, sponsored by the film office and the Palace Theater, is titled “Acting and Producing for Film and Television” and is the next workshop in the office’s Visiting Artist Program.
John Mason, commissioner of the film office, said the workshop will be divided into two sections: an acting portion in the morning and a production portion in the afternoon.
The acting section of the workshop will cover business skills such as finding an agent and self-marketing, as well as training for actors such as cold readings and working on set.
Meanwhile, the production session will cover topics such as where to find material to produce, the development process, financing, budgeting, production, distribution and more, Mason said.
Mason said he anticipates participants from throughout the island.
Mason also expects Anapau, the presenter, to attract attention from aspiring professionals.
Anapau’s previous credits include a supporting role in the Oscar-nominated Darren Aronofsky film “Black Swan” and a recurring role in the HBO series “True Blood.”
The workshop will take place from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Palace.
Attendance costs $15 for students, $20 for Screen Actors Guild members and $25 for all others.
