Black Panther, in theatres now, is another Marvel film that was filmed in South Korea. A car chase scene was filmed in Busan, Korea, last March.
Directed by Ryan Coogler and Joe Robert Cole, it stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, aka Black Panther, alongside Angela Bassett and Forest Whitaker. The film was released in the U.S. last weekend. The production crew closed off the Gwangali Beach in Busan at 8 p.m. to film the car chase scene. They also filmed near the famous fish market Jagalchi in Nampodong. The car chase scene involved over 100 cars and and 700 people.
This is the second Marvel film to use South Korea as a filming location; “Avengers: Age of Ultron” was filmed in 2015 in Seoul, South Korea. The cast of Black Panther launched their international tour in Seoul on Feb. 5 to a large crowd that Boseman compared to a sold out sporting event. The four main cast members all gave a photo opportunity with the trending heart sign using the thumb and index finger commonly used by K-pop celebrities.
