Zonta Club 2018 scholarships available
The Zonta Club of Hilo is accepting applications for its 2018 Nursing, Math &Science, Jane M. Klausman (JMK) Women In Business scholarships, and the 2018 Young Women in Public Affairs Award. Each scholarship awards $1,000. The YWPAA awards $500 for first place, $300 for second and $200 for third.
The Nursing Scholarship is open to women enrolled full-time in a nursing degree program at the University of Hawaii at Hilo (UHH) or at Hawaii Community College (HCC).
The Math &Science Scholarship is open to women enrolled full-time at UHH or HCC, working toward a degree in mathematics, physics, engineering, technology, computer science, pharmacy and astronomy, as well as high school students taking college courses for credit.
The application deadline for scholarships and the YWPAA is Thursday, March 1. Applications are available at zontahilo.org or through Zonta Hilo’s service chair, Julie Tulang, at info@zontahilo.org.
Mayville State announces Dean’s List members
The following local students have been been listed on the Dean’s List for fall 2017 at Mayville State University in North Dakota: Shelton Grace, Kealakekua; Morgan Lominario, Waikoloa; Evyn Yamaguchi, Kealakekua; and Vohn Yamaguchi, Kealakekua.
In order to make the Dean’s List, students attained a GPA of 3.5 or higher and completed a minimum of 12 graded credit hours of regular academic credit from Mayville State.
Keauhou Canoe Club Youth Beach Day
Keauhou Canoe Club is holding a day of fun, sun, and ocean activities for ages 6 and older on Feb. 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The club will offer an introduction to water safety and outrigger canoe paddling.
Please bring a towel and sunscreen. Lunch will be prepared by the canoe club.
