Dave Mason’s library of songs is a long one, so there will be a lot of ground to cover.
The Rock and Roll Music Hall of Famer and Traffic co-founder and guitarist has recorded with a who’s who list of the industry’s biggest names — Paul McCartney, George Harrison, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Michael Jackson to name a few.
So when there’s a lot of ground to cover, it’s best to get right to it.
No fireworks shooting off the stage, no dancing girls, no bells, no whistles.
“Bottom line,” Mason told West Hawaii Today, “it’s just a great band. We’re traveling musicians, we’re working, traveling musicians, who love playing.”
At 7 p.m. Wednesday, Mason will kick off his latest tour, The Very Best of Dave Mason at the Honokaa People’s Theatre. The show will cross Mason’s solo career as well as his days with the band Traffic, which kicked out one of Mason’s most popular songs, “Feelin’ Alright.”
The 71-year old has been playing music as long as he can remember. He doesn’t have any intentions of slowing down. The feeling of playing a musical creation on stage and seeing everyone enjoying the moment, enjoying a moment in time that will become a lifelong memory is a sensation that never dulls over time.
“I’ll be touring until I drop,” he said.
Tickets are $45. A VIP experience, for an additional $125, gives fans a chance to meet Mason, snap pictures with the former member of Fleetwood Mac, and attend the soundcheck session.
