From noon-1 p.m. Jan. 24, MIT’s Ben Crawford and Jesse Kroll will host a free presentation for the public on poor air quality due to volcanic air pollution — the single largest environmental risk factor for premature death globally, largely unknown due to a lack of widespread observations. The presenters will share details about a planned network of air quality monitors throughout Hawaii Island that will measure levels of volcanic air pollution to enable high-resolution monitoring for health and regulatory purposes.
