Holualoa Village celebrates the new year with art, music and food at January’s First Friday Art-After-Dark from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday.
Look for art and artists in a dozen galleries, as well as free live music and food vendors. This community event is for all ages.
Inside the Holualoa Gallery owner/artist, Matthew Lovein will be showing new ceramic work while William Wingert will be painting, live. Outside, Holoholoz Fresh Fish ono grinds and Kona Dogs Gourmet Hotdogs will be serving up fresh and tasty fare. Musicians Lona and Joe D’Entrone will be playing and singing for your listening enjoyment.
Crowd favorites, always rippin’ David Lawrence and friends, will provide musical entertainment all evening in their usual location in front of Koa Realty.
Glyph Art Gallery will be hosting two gallery artists with extended work in front of the gallery.
Artist Andra Pro, known for her woodcut prints of native flora and fauna, will be introducing a new line of decorative accent pillows, featuring her botanical woodcut designs. Veteran landscape photographer Don Slocum will also have a booth, featuring new work and an extensive selection of his aluminum prints of sky, sea and earth panoramas.
Holualoa Ukulele Gallery hosts local musicians Mauka High Notes, who will perform on the front porch. Seating has been expanded to accommodate more guests under the tent.
Pat Pearlman Designs, in the historic pink Kona Hotel, wants to provide some bling with unique uvarovite or green garnet druzy, as well as natural garnet crystals, which all represent the January birthstone garnet, a stone of physical love and relationship and a protective talisman.
