WAIMEA — The Hawaii Preparatory Academy Middle School’s Handbell Choir, under the direction of Georgia Polakova, will put on a free holiday performance open to the public at 5 p.m. this Wednesday at Thelma Parker Memorial Public and School Library.
This is the group’s first appearance at the library.
Musical highlights will include “Carol of the Bells,” “Do You Hear What I Hear?,” “Frosty the Snowman” and “Hatikva.” Debuting this year are “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Exciting Things!”
The handbell choir has been part of the HPA Middle School experience since 1985. The choir consists of 17 students who take the semester-long class.
“We’re delighted to host this talented group of students,” Pamela Akao said, the library’s branch manager. “We hope the community will join us and enjoy the beautiful sounds of the holiday bells.”
The performance will be followed by light refreshments, hosted by the Friends of the Thelma Parker Memorial Public and School Library.
