Realtors win awards
HONOLULU – It was a great week for Elite Pacific Properties’ agents Romy Jacobson and Wailana Herbst. Romy Jacobson was named Salesperson of the Year by West Hawaii Board of Realtors on Dec. 1. Wailana Herbst was named Realtor of the Year by East Hawaii Board of Realtors on Dec. 2. These awards reflect Elite Pacific Properties’ strong commitment to the Big Island real estate market.
Romy Jacobson was born and raised in California, graduating from UCLA. Relocating to Hawaii in 1993, she began her real estate career as a landlord and investor. Romy and her husband Erik serve clients from Kamuela to Kona, specializing in in the Kohala Coast resorts. As a licensed real estate salesperson, she is an active member of the West Hawaii Association of Realtors and is a graduate of the Hawaii Association of Realtors Leadership Academy. The Salesperson of the Year award is a reflection of Jacobson’s outstanding track record and dedication to the community.
Wailana Herbst is a third-generation Big Island born Realtor. Growing up in the family real estate business, Wailana has gained valuable experience in a multitude of transactions. Attending University of Hawaii at Hilo, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and then immediately activated her license and became a full-time agent. Throughout her career, Wailana has been actively involved in her local and state Realtor associations and graduated from the Hawaii Association of Realtors Leadership Academy in 2010. In 2014, she moved to North Kohala, expanding her service area to include the entire east coast of the Big Island and shortly thereafter became a resident of the North Kohala community when she married her longtime friend and partner who grew up in Kapa’au. Wailana is more than deserving of The Realtor of the Year award by East Hawaii Board of Realtors.
Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union welcomes Tyson Klask as Hilo branch manager
KAILUA-KONA — Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union (HCFCU) is extremely pleased to announce Tyson Klask as Branch Manager of the soon-to-open location in downtown Hilo. The new branch, the credit union’s first in East Hawaii, will open in the summer of 2018 at 111 Aupuni St. The branch will provide members with a drive up teller window, 24-hour ATM, and other advanced in-lobby banking options enhancing the member experience to deliver the service excellence that has been the core of HCFCU for over 80 years.
“I’m so excited and honored to join the Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union ‘ohana,” said Klask. “I’ve always wanted to serve the community in a larger capacity by providing people with sound advice that makes a difference in their lives. The opportunity to do this and more is what brought me to Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union.”
Klask graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1994 and immediately started work in the financial industry. He spent more than 23 years at the same company throughout its many transitions and acquisitions (first as The Associates, then CitiFinancial, and OneMain Financial). He will have overall supervisory responsibility for the administration, operation, loans, personnel, community and public relations for the branch. Klask lives in Hilo with his wife and daughter.
