Mrs. Kiyoko Sugiyama, 90, of Laupahoehoe, Hawaii, died Oct. 13, 2017 at the Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Laupahoehoe, Hawaii on March 3, 1927 and was a housewife.
Private services held. No flowers. No Koden (monetary offerings).
She is survived by daughters, Dorine (Hugh) Kobayashi of Hilo, Janice (Neil) Tanouye of Torrance, California and Kate (Walden) Arizumi of Hilo; sons, Ronny (Jill) Sugiyama of Holualoa, Alvin (Lori) Sugiyama of Hilo, Arnold Sugiyama of Kalopa, Donald Sugiyama of Laupahoehoe and Lenny Sugiyama of Hilo; brother, Tsuyoshi Tahara of Honolulu; sisters, Shizuko Sumiye of Pepeekeo and Hideko Horiuchi of Hilo; daughter-in-law, Caroline Sugiyama of Laupahoehoe; sisters-in-law, Masae Mende of Hilo, Irene (Abel) Awong of Hilo and Yasuko Sugiyama of Hilo; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Donald “Oota” Carvalho, 81, of Hilo, died Oct. 29, 2017 at home. Born in Hilo, he was retired from the former Kaneko Jelly Factory, a Catholic, and member of “Hawaii’s” Senior League Baseball, Hawaii Police Golf Club and Hawaiian Golf Club.
Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 29, 2017 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Urn committal service follows at Homelani Memorial Park Ilima section. The family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by sisters, Gladys Borges and Hazel Araujo of California; niece/caregiver, Patricia (Michael) Riviera of Hilo; numerous nieces and nephews.

Pearl Jane Rangasan
Pearl Jane “Pualani,” “Pearly” Rangasan, 73 of Kealakekua, died Nov. 5 at her residence. Born Oct. 30, 1944 in Ookala, she was a station supervisor for Easley Corporation Chevron gas stations, a coffee and macadamia nut farmer, member of Ke Ola Mau Loa Church in Waimea.

Lillian Tsurumi Hashimoto, 68, of Hilo, died Nov. 5, 2017, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Laupahoehoe, she was an employee at Big island Candies.

Mr. Adam Miprano, 82, of Hilo, Hawaii, died November 8, 2017 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, Hawaii on May 9, 1935, he was a retired maintenance man for the federal government; a former sugar plantation worker, and a U.S. Army veteran. Private services will be held.
He is survived by his sons, Derek Miprano of Hilo, Cory Miprano of Kailua-Kona, and Bradley (Marie) Miprano of Washington; sister, Gloria DeJesus of Las Vegas, NV; 6 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and Cousins.

Jack Burrill
Jack Rodney Burrill, 79, of Hilo, died Nov. 9, 2017 at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation &Nursing Center. Born on Feb. 19, 1938, in Fern Dale, Mich., he was a retired L.P.N., a proud member of 12 Coconuts and a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran.
A Graveside Urn Committal Service will be held at noon Nov. 29 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Mr. Kimberly Paul Caporoz, 58, of Hilo, Hawaii, died Nov. 16, 2017 at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Waianae, Oahu on Jan. 4, 1959, he was a maintenance man for E.K. Fernandez Carnivals and a meat cutter for the Kahua Ranch.
He is survived by his daughters, Shaila Baker of Ogden, Utah, and Sierra Caporoz-Hammond of Kailua-Kona; father, Barney Caporoz of Waianae, Oahu; maternal grandmother, Rose Domen Villanueva of Honolulu; 5 grandchildren.

Allan Bredeson
Mr. Allan Gilmore Bredeson, 83, of Papa Bay, died Oct. 31, 2017, at his residence. Born July 14 1934, in Nekoma, N.D., he was a retired public school educator in San Diego and a substitute teacher in the West Hawaii Kona area. He was a member of the Kona Faith Center, the International Palm Society and a U.S. Army veteran.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. December 2, 2017 at the Kona Faith Center in Captain Cook. The family requests casual attire.

Bill Lowe, 75, of Hilo, died peacefully at home Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 surrounded by family &his beloved pets. He was born in Pennsylvania. He was a retired L.A.C.M.T.A. Sr. Ethics Officer and a U.S. Army veteran. No services.

Kathryn Kimiko Une, 81, of Pepeekeo, died Nov. 11, 2017 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, she worked for Bank of Hawaii and was a member of Tenrikyo Kaka’ako Church.

Barbara Irene Cunningham, 76 of Hilo, Hawaii, passed away on Oct. 31, 2017. She was born in Oakland, California on Nov. 15, 1940. Barbara worked for many years at Cash &Carry in Pahoa and made the best sandwiches ever!
She is survived by sister Mary Pederson of Chugiak, Alaska: Step-daughters Wendy Moore &Stacy Baldzicki; Niece’s: Lisa Pickart. Jessica Hogan; Nephews: Adam Cohen, Ken Pickart, Gary Pickart and Chris Bullock; Grandchildren (step) 3.
According to her wishes her body was donated to the University of Hawaii, John Burns School of Medicine Willed Body Program.
