KAILUA-KONA — A Kona grand jury has indicted a man accused of sexually abusing a minor more than five years ago.

KAILUA-KONA — A Kona grand jury has indicted a man accused of sexually abusing a minor more than five years ago.

Charges were filed against William John Johnson on Nov. 6. A bench warrant was also issued with bail set at $35,000.

According to court documents, the assault occurred sometime between July 1 and Aug. 14, 2012. The alleged victim was less than 14 years old at the time.

Documents state Johnson knowingly engaged in sexual penetration with the minor, knowingly had sexual contact and knowingly subjected the alleged victim to sexual contact or caused to have contact with him.

Johnson has been charged with first-degree sexual assault and two counts of third-degree sexual assault. The grand jury also ordered that Johnson have no contact with the victim.
