Akira Fujimoto

Akira Fujimoto, 92, of Hilo, died Oct. 22, 2017, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Honolulu, he was a civil and structural engineer and retired manager with the County of Hawaii Department of Water Supply and a U.S. Army World War II veteran.

Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Nov. 4 at the Hilo Meishoin Mission for an 11 a.m. memorial service. Casual attire, no flowers or koden.

He is survived by wife, Hazel Fujimoto of Hilo; son, Terrance (Darlyne) Fujimoto of Maui, and Kyle (Hyon-Cha) Fujimoto of Hilo; sister, Emiko Kamei of Honolulu; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Richard Andaya

Richard Andaya, 74, of Hilo, died Oct. 8, 2017, at home. Born on Jan. 29, 1943, in Honokaa, he was a retired meat cutter; a boxer for the former Wanderers Boxing Club; and a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.

Visitation will be held from 4:30-6 p.m. Nov. 4 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo. Celebration of life begins at 6. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Alberta Andaya of Hilo; children, Paula Andaya of Hilo, Pauline (Darin) Perreira of Papaikou, Paulsa (Ron) Keeling of Kawaihae and Richard Pono (Mary) Andaya of Waimea; sisters, Josephine Kahanaoi of Hilo, Loretta (Mike) Cacoulidis of Honokaa and Doris (Duane) Santiago of Pahala; brothers, Moses Andaya of California and Abraham Andaya of California; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Paulino Tolentino

Paulino Corpuz Tolentino, 61, of Pahoa, died Sept. 17, 2017, at his residence. Born April 29, 1956, in Mangato, Laog City, Philippines, he was a papaya farmer.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Nov. 3 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo. Wake service will begin at 7. Visitation will continue 9-10 a.m. Nov. 4 at the chapel for a 10 a.m. funeral service. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park in Hilo. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Nancy Andrada Tolentino of Pahoa; daughters, Venus Andrada Tolentino of Pahoa, Christel (Sebastian Afaga) Andrada Tolentino of Kailua-Kona and Janine Andrada Tolentino of Keaau; sons, Lovejoy (Jayahmie) Andrada Tolentino of Hilo and Charles Andrada Tolentino of Pahoa; sisters, Tereza Agpawa of Keaau and Anita (Ramon) Andres of San Jose, Calif.; brother, Florencio Tolentino of Keaau; one grandson; numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Peter Tosie

Peter Erafe Tosie, 45, of Hilo, died Oct. 10, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born on June 27, 1972, in Kosrae, Federated States of Micronesia; he was a correctional officer.

Friends may call 10 a.m.-noon on Nov. 3 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a noon funeral service. Casual attire. Flowers and lei are welcome. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery.

He is survived by girlfriend, Tricia-Lee Lum Ho of Maui; son, Keoni Tosie Brown of Hilo; daughters, Tiare-Wehiwa and Jasmine-Welina Tosie of Maui; mother, Aklina Tosie of Hilo; brothers, Maynard Tosie and Elijah (Wendy) Tosie of Seattle; sisters, Elsina (Robert) Likiak of Seattle, Tulpe Tosie Day of Hilo and Mary-Ruth Tosie of Kona; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Charles Rosa

Charles “Chucky” Patrick Rosa, 59, of Hilo, died Oct. 4, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born March 17, 1958, in Honolulu, he was a high school security guard for Hilo High School, a former ranch hand for Rocking H Ranch and a member of the Hawaii Army National Guard.

A celebration of life will be held at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 3 at Connect Point Church, 168 Holomua St., in Hilo. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Gale Rosa of Hilo; daughter, Jamie (Brandon Batin) Araujo-Rosa of Hilo; sons, Joshua (Lana) Araujo-Rosa of Las Vegas and Jacob Araujo-Rosa of Las Vegas; parents, Charles (Joyce) Rosa of Hilo; sisters, Cheryl Mattos of Las Vegas, Lauri (David) Mattos of Hilo and Kathy (Stacey) Horner of Hilo; brother, Anthony Rosa of Hilo; eight grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Victoria Moats

Victoria Taprine Moats, 37, died Sept. 23, 2017, in Pahoa. Born on Oct. 2, 1979, in Alaska, she was pediatric nurse.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 4 at Puna Sure Foundation.

She is survived by son, Skyler Harris Moats; mother Melanie (Michael) Moats; father Michael Hurst; brother Casey Lee Moats; sisters Brianna Hurst; Jennifer Ruhl, Stormy (Jeremy) Smith; one aunt; and many hanai siblings.
