KAILUA VILLAGE — Dogs of all shapes and sizes were dressed to impress Saturday morning for the annual Howl’ween Dog Walk.
Dozens of costumed pooches, their owners and those who just love dogs took part in the annual Halloween event that meandered Alii Drive starting at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel. The Howl’ween Dog Walk encourages pet owners to exercise themselves and their pets all the while raising money for the Hawaii Island Humane Society. Dogs available for adoption participated in the walk.
Many pet parents weren’t afraid to take part in the fun, donning costumes that complemented their canine, or canines.
One such duo was Jeffrey Werle and James Eldredge, dressed as The Woodsman and Granny, respectively, adding nicely to their pup, Luna, 6, outfitted in a Little Red Riding Hood costume.
The festivities also included costume competitions, pet-related vendors, food and drink and live performance by the West Hawaii County Band.
