Nobody likes Trump, all right already. Let’s think about something else.
Think about … it only take 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to Hilo now that Saddle Road is done.
Think about … the new highway being finished and having a lot less traffic.
Think about … the fact that there’s lots of work and jobs.
Think about … people are making a lot of money in the stock market.
Think about … your yard/house and the work to make it nice.
Think about … getting some exercise — go out and paddle.
Think about … best of all — showing some aloha.

‘Straight talk’ a misinformed echo chamber
Since the 2016 campaign, I have heard the trope from Trump’s minions that he “was a straight talker” or “he tells it like it is” or whatever. Only, this does not match anything you read from brilliant thinkers, fact checkers, and scientists from every political persuasion demonstrating with solid evidence that Trump is a bald-faced liar regarding practically everything that comes from his mouth and his administration. There is an obvious disconnect here.
If you get all your information from one source, and everyone you discuss these topics with gets their information from the same source, and you reject or belittle any information that does not support the preconceived notions supported by your comforting source, then you are only confirming your biases, your previously held beliefs. This disconnects what you believe from the facts. What makes sense, or sounds like “straight talk,” to people with tainted background information has little to do with evidence and nothing to do with facts.
If your background data, i.e. substantial amounts of data you feel are true, are wrong, then substantial amounts of what makes sense or sounds like straight talk, by comparison, is also wrong. And, since U.S. news consumers, especially Fox News viewers, have consistently qualified as the most misinformed news consumers, I would think it obvious that what sounds like straight talk to consumers of right-wing media, and they are all corporate and right-wing, is anything but.
Only claims substantiated with a preponderance of the evidence begin to qualify as fact, or straight talk, and you cannot presume to get unbiased evidence from a single source serving biased interests, no matter how comforting it is to your waning privilege.

Another ambulance needed
Instead of giving our elected officials a raise which they don’t need as they are already overpaid, why don’t we take some of that money and buy an ambulance for the Makalei Fire Station? Shouldn’t saving a life take priority?
The accident on Friday near the airport is a good example of why one is needed. Is anyone listening?
