Big Island landscapes will be a featured next month at Firehouse Gallery in Waimea.
The exhibit will be on display starting Wednesday and continuing through Nov. 25 with artwork that includes areas all over the island, such as Akaka Falls, Mauna Kea, Kilauea Volcano, the dry forest area with their wiliwili trees, the green pastures of Waimea and North Kohala, valleys like Waipio and Pololu, and the towns of Kona and Hilo.
All artwork is by members of the Waimea Arts Council and could include photographs, drawings and sculpture, as well as paintings in watercolor, oil, acrylic or mixed media.
Concurrently, the back gallery area continues its Affordable Art Show and sale, which provides an opportunity to purchase art for the holidays with a wide range of products from small cards to original paintings, photography and jewelry. All items are priced from $2.50-$250. The show will continue through November in the Back Gallery and in December it will move to the Front Gallery.
The Firehouse Gallery is the most visible project of the Waimea Arts Council, a nonprofit organization that strives to provide promotion of the arts on Hawaii Island. The gallery is located at 67-1201 Mamalahoa Highway and is open 11 a.m.-3p.m. Wednesday-Friday and Sunday and from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday.
