Spicing things up: Spicy Ninja Sauce among semifinalists in HIplan competition

Spicy Ninja Sauces, sold in grocery stores, restaurants and resorts on the Big island, are produced at The Hub in Hawi. The company’s co-founders have sold 7,000 bottles of their sauces so far this year, in just their second year open.

Pineapples grown on the Hawi farm are used in the popular Super Typhoon and the Piña Colada of DOOM! hot sauces.

HAWI — Similar to the reality show “Shark Tank,” 15 budding entrepreneurs on Hawaii Island will pitch their products to judges at Hawaii Island Business Plan Competition’s semifinals Saturday at Hale Iako in Kona.
