Police Friday confirmed that no citations were issued in a crash involving an Ironman triathlete and vehicle on Queen Kaahumanu Highway Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred when a pickup truck traveling southbound on Queen Kaahumanu Highway was negotiating a left turn onto Honokohau Street. Tim Don, a veteran professional, was riding northbound and broadsided the vehicle.

The crash sent the man to the hospital and he was diagnosed with a fractured vertebrae, sidelining him for five to six weeks and causing him to miss the Ironman World Championship.

Don, 39, finished in 15th place during his debut 2015 Ironman World Championship.
