Hawaii Women’s Legal Foundation accepting grant program applications
Hawaii Women’s Legal Foundation (HWLF) is accepting applications for its 2017 grant program from organizations and projects that help to improve the legal status and welfare of women and children in Hawaii.
HWLF considers grant applications twice a year, in April and October. The Oct. 6 deadline for receipt of grant applications for consideration in October has been extended to Oct. 13.
HWLF typically awards “micro” grants in amounts ranging from $500-$5,000. HWLF prefers not to award funds for operational expenses, and instead prefers to make awards on a project-by-project basis or as a means to “jump-start” an organization’s funding sources.
HWLF’s primary criteria in considering funding applications include: improving women and children’s access to the legal system; reducing child abuse; reducing domestic violence; reducing sexual abuse; increasing financial independence; and improving women and children’s health, education and welfare.
Grant applications are available online at www.hwlf.org/grants or by emailing Dianne Brookins, Esq., at dbrookins@ahfi.com or to Zale Okazaki, Esq., at zale.okazaki@hawadvocate.com or.
