Van Roberson
Van Berry Roberson, 79, of Kailua-Kona, died Sept. 17, 2017, at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born Dec. 9, 1937, in Jasper, Florida, he was a retired U.S. Air Force Major and fighter pilot, the southern regional director for Century 21, and a member of the VFW and a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Friends may call at noon on Sept. 26 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona for a service. Casual attire; flower leis welcome.
He is survived by wife, Carol Jacque Roberson of Kailua-Kona; son, Van (Chris) Roberson of Birmingham, Alabama; daughter, La Raine (Andrew) Williams of Hampton Cove, Alabama; brother, Doyle (Olivi) Roberson of Montgomery, Alabama; and three grandchildren.

Irene Marjorie Puaokalani Abrojena, 77, of Kealakekua, died Aug. 31, 2017, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Aug. 29, 1940, in Hilo, she was a waitress at the former Ho Fa Inn, Teshima’s Restaurant and the former Kona Surf Resort.
Friends may call at 8 a.m. on Sept. 30 at Kahikolu Congregational Church on Napoopoo Road in Napoopoo for an 11 a.m. service. Casual attire.
She is survived by sons, Gary (Linda) Abrojena of Antioch, California, Daniel (Lydia) Abrojena of Milolii, Mario (June) Abrojena of Ocean View, Ernest (Maggie) Abrojina of Captain Cook, Abel (Julie) Abrojina of Opihihale, and Danford (Pomai) Abrojena of Kealakekua; daughter, Irene (Olin) Caban of Antioch, California; brother, Nelson (Deena) Kahele of Captain Cook; hanai brothers, Garciano Sesson and Milton Decalio of Pahala; sisters, Evangeline Kim of Kapolei, Oahu, Daisy Chiantano of California, Carol (Donald) Laa of Hilo, and Janette Evans of Michigan; hanai siters, Rosin (Moses) Takaki of Aiea, Oahu, and Felisha Kaniho of South Point; 31 grandchldren; 37 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Josephine Kaukali Kailikini Fergerstrom, 90 of Kailua-Kona, died Aug. 31, 2017. Born Dec. 10, 1926, she was a waitress at Kona Hilton Resort.

She is survived by sons, Calvin (Nalehua) Fergerstrom of Hilo; Carl Fergerstrom of Honolulu; daughter Momi (Ronald) Denis of Kailua Kona; Hanai sister Cecilia (Jimmie) Suttles of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Iris Josephine Kauiholani Baczkiewicz, 59, of Volcano, died Sept. 2, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 5, 1958, in Kapapala Ranch, Ka’u, she was a rancher.
