Family photo sessions benefits PTA

Hawaii Montessori Schools at Kona Parent Teachers Association is offering family photo mini sessions featuring professional photographers Evan Loney, Sheri Prisby, and Megan Spelman.

Starting at $45, people can choose from a complete gallery of edited photos from your session. Session dates are Oct. 22-30 and will be held at the Royal Kona Resort.

Limited sessions available, so book yours today. All proceeds benefit the Hawaii Montessori at Kona PTA.

Hawaii radio operators prepare for emergency test

Hawaii Amateur Radio operators are preparing for a simulated emergency test, an annual communications exercise sponsored by the American Radio Relay League, the National Association for Amateur Radio.

The scenario for the test will be a Great Aleutian Tsunami which will have a disastrous impact on all Hawaiian Islands. The exercise will be held on from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 21.

Teams of amateur radio operators will be deployed to various locations throughout the county. The goal of the SET is “to exercise emergency communications capabilities” and “to provide reliable communications when normal means of communications fail or become disabled.”

AARP Driver safety class offered in October

The AARP driver safety class will be from 1-5 p.m. Oct. 30 at Kona Palisades Rec Center, 73-1043 Kaiminani Dr., Kailua-Kona.

Class limited to 15 participants, so please be sure to sign up ahead of time. Call or leave message for George Kerker at 333-5512, with your name and phone number, for a return call.

Available to AARP members for $15, public/non members for $20. Please arrive before 1 p.m. and bring driver’s license, AARP card, and payment, cash or check (made out to AARP).
