HILO — Jaylin Kema, appeared with her attorney, Brian De Lima, on Thursday in Hilo Circuit Court. Kema, who is serving a 10-year probation sentence for manslaughter in the 1997 death of her son, Peter “Peter Boy” Kema Jr., is accused of violating her probation for a second time.
According to a court filing by her probation officer, Kema tested positive for marijuana and admitted to using it on two occasions. Acting Hilo Circuit Judge Harry Freitas ordered her to return to court at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 24.
In July, Kema received a warning for testing positive for marijuana, being late for a meeting with her probation officer, missing another appointment entirely and changing her phone number without reporting it to authorities.
